University of Michigan Corporate Office Visits

In Spring 2022, PGN’s University of Michigan chapter traveled to Chicago to privately tour five companies: Greenhill, PepsiCo, Bain & Company, G2, and Foxtrot. Attendees got a wide variety of industry influence ranging from investment banking, consulting, and corporate finance, to marketing and entrepreneurship.

At Greenhill, a University of Michigan PGN alumni led the students through a presentation explaining the recruiting process, as well as the company structure. This gave members actively recruiting for investment banking the opportunity to learn more about the industry and make valuable connections with professionals in the Chicago office.

At PepsiCo, a panel of employees, including the former University of Michigan PGN chapter president, Jordan Tran, described employment and internship opportunities at PepsiCo in corporate finance, marketing, and brand management. While this portion of the day was virtual, this presentation appealed to the professional interests of almost every member.

At Bain & Company, PGN was given a tour of the Chicago office, which was followed by a presentation and Q & A with recruiters. With so many of the chapter’s members planning on recruiting for consulting in the fall, this tour was extremely valuable in providing first hand experience in the office, while also having the opportunity to ask questions related to the upcoming recruiting process.

Finally, G2 and Foxtrot both gave students the opportunity to get a feel for the start-up environment, while simultaneously connecting with alumni from PGN and getting more information about internship opportunities.

The most positive experience of the entire day was meeting the University of Michigan original chapter founders who now work at G2, chasing PGN’s value of entrepreneurial spirit. They were able to provide students with first hand accounts of how PGN benefitted them after graduation. This made the entire group extremely proud and excited to be a part of PGN, especially for potential new members attending the visit.

The University of Michigan chapter plans on making this event an annual occurrence every Spring based on all of the knowledge gained and connections made during the trip.
